1. Wall St. got very greedy and took advantage of many citizens with subprime loans
2.Washington decided it was a good idea to deregulate wall st.; well now we are seeing the problems because of that
3. People are using credit cards; loans like crazy because we all think credit is limitless; well it is not and now we are hitting the fan because of that
No wonder why most of the world hates us; it is because we pretty much do not care and we spend. spend, spend like crazy. Now with Palin saying we might be heading toward a depression and mccain wanting to postpone friday's debate to most of congress not wanting support the bush's 700 billion bailout; things need to change very quickly or we are screwed. The average joe has no choice but to use credit to buy neccesary things because of your wages not going up and many people out of work and i am afraid it will get worse. Now i have some suggestions to fix these problems.
1. REGULATE and change the rules of wall st. and quit all of this greed and corruption before it is too late.
2. If these compaines want a bailout their former CEO's and the tons of millions of dollars they took when they left must be returned and nobody can take lots of money in the company.
3.We need a new president that will create good paying us jobs and spend money to get jobs like improving roads, rail service, schools, airports, and everything else infrastructure like we did after the great depression.
4. Impose a tariff on ALL goods coming in to the country. We have a trade decifit in the 100's of billions of dollars every year becuase cheap goods from other countries come in and jobs go out. Make companies to create jobs here because it would be cheaper.
5.Congress and the president need to quit sitting on their butts and come together and pass good legistation.
6.Help people get out of their subprime loan mess and require certain things to get a loan like money down and good credit.
7.Make people quit using credit cards like it is their ATM and require people to save and give tax breaks for people who save.
8. Encourage people to shop at local non-chain businesses since most of their stuff is made here at home and big chains stores everything is from china.
9.stop spending so much on war related and government related stuff; Most of the world hates us and wants to give us the middle finger because of what we are doing in iraq.
10.Reform all spending programs like social security; medicare; and all government programs to run efficently.
I hope things change very soon or we will be standing in soup lines and growing food and hunt like people did in the 1800's

If you ask me how to solve our high gas prices, the answer is simple, we MUST do many things to solve this problem, here's how to do it.
1. WE must drill: Just having the notion that we will drill for more oil will bring down the prices to around the $100 level and bring down prices, not only we must drill we must also get oil shale, and various things. I do not support drilling in AWNR but that's another story. I do not think this is what you want to see if you go to gulf shores!

2. Lower the speed limit: I think we need to go back to an national speed limit of 65 on freeways and 4-lanes and 55 everywhere else where permitted. Every mph you drive over 60 reduces your fuel mileage in your care. We have to be proactive in this and work as a country, and not be divided.
3. Use more trains: We need to develop more trains and high speed trains. Think about it, trains run very clean and much more cleaner than trucks. We can develop an train infrastructure for freight and people that rivals europe's system.
4.Increase fuel mileage in cars: We need our government to increase standards in our cars so much that you get 35-50 mpg. It would help big time.
5.Increase our dollar: Why is our dollar tied to oil? Until we stop the madness of all of these imports coming in and we increase our dollar, oil will remain high.
6.More mass transit: We need this country to fund more mass transit! More buses and light rail that run clean is great for us. If we did that people would use a good mass transit system and not drive, lower gas demand means lower gas prices; plus it is a win-win for our environment and global warming.
7.Produce things locally: Why are shipping things like fruits, veggies, and goods from California? Why do we encourage local businesses to produce things and local farmers produce our corps for stores and markets, it would save a bundle on gas and lower demand.
8.Stop sprawl: We need to encourage people to stop living so far out form where you work and shop and have people move closer to cities. People would use mass transit, drive less, and lower gas demand.
9.Develop pederstrian friendly cities: We need to build more bike lanes and sidewalks so people are encouraged to ride a bike or walk instead of driving a car. We also need to develop towns that have businesses, homes and other things together within walking distance.
10.Better building, infrastructure design: If we designed our roads better with minimal stopping and idling we would reduce demand, we need to design buildings so they use a lot less energy.
11.More nuclear and clean coal. We need to build power plants that run cleanly. Clean coal and nuclear are great sources to do this.
12.Tax breaks: We need to give tax breaks for people who use mass transit, walk, ride a bike, moped, or scooter; or carpool, anyhting that stops people from driving by themselves.
13. Alternatives: We need to fund alternaties because face it, oil will not last forever. Ethanol that does not use food like corn. hydrogen and natural gas are great alternatives for fossil fuels.
14.A Gas Tax holiday will not work: If we took the gas tax away how we will pay for our roads? This would only save about $30 bucks and would encourage people to drive more which would drive up gas prices and make the prices higher even with the gas tax applied to the price of gas. This would not work!
15.Encourge people to be environmentally friendly: Encourage people to grow gardens, replace bulbs, dry clothes outside, etc. It would use less oil and drive down demand.
If we did all of these things, the price of oil would drop and america would be totally different. have a good day! -Nathan Young

From cnn.
Phil Gramm, a top adviser to Sen. John McCain, on Thursday stood by his comment that the country is in a "mental recession," and said he was trying to say the nation's leaders, not its people, were "whiners."
Democrats blasted Gramm, who advises presumed Republican nominee McCain on economic matters, for saying Americans who have named the economy as a top concern this campaign cycle were "a nation of whiners."
McCain forcefully repudiated the remarks while campaigning in Michigan, which has the highest unemployment rate in the nation.
The comments came in a Washington Times interview published Thursday.
Us Americans know what is going on and having one of Mccain's Advisers call americans a "nation of whiners" will hurt Mccain. They said this while in Michigan; I have been and lived in Michigan and it is suffering badly. This will hurt Mccain in the long run and I suggest he fires Phil Gramm.

But heading into a presidential election, Cohen doesn't expect politicians to raise fuel taxes to stave off the 2009 deficit. Meanwhile, he says, the trust fund's purchasing power has declined by 30 percent because of inflation and skyrocketing construction costs -- so the country is spending less today in constant dollars than when federal fuel taxes were last increased 14 years ago.
Policy makers and transportation experts are kicking around several ideas to address the 2009 shortfall besides increasing taxes, which have stood at 18.4 cents a gallon for gasoline and 24.4 cents a gallon for diesel fuel since 1993.
Those possibilities include ending state and local governments' gas-tax exemption; crediting the trust fund with interest; and combating tax evasion by organized crime. Other potential revenue streams include claiming the proceeds of the so-called gas-guzzler tax imposed on low-mileage vehicles, which now goes to general revenue, and dedicating a portion of customs fees to the trust fund.
Taxes on gasoline and diesel fuel provide nearly 90 percent of the trust fund's revenue, with taxes on heavy-vehicle use, truck tires, and truck and trailer sales making up the rest. The highway program distributes money to the states to build and maintain major roads according to a statutory formula that this year guaranteed all states a minimum return of 91.5 percent of the receipts they contribute to the trust fund. A separate, smaller account within the trust fund supports mass transit.
Many transportation lobbyists are still stewing about the 2005 legislative fight over the current law, when the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee used the Transportation Department's own estimates to write a $375 billion bill and the White House played hardball to force the total down to $286 billion.
"We've got an administration that doesn't get it," said one lobbyist who insisted on anonymity. It has "a strong anti-tax sentiment, and over time it's been harder and harder to discuss funding." The lobbyist also faulted Congress for diverting highway program dollars to an increasing number of earmarks. "We need to have a national transportation system because it's important to the national economy. Instead, it has become all about 'what do I get?' "
America's trust fund will go broke in 2009 if no new funding is created. I know people will not like this but it will most likely mean higher taxes somewhere. The costs to build a road have gone up drastically and unless we find new sources, we are in trouble. For example; Asphalt has gone up as much as $10 dollars and it costs 4 to 10 million to build a mile of four lane.
I would add more toll roads and higher license fees. Unless we invest in our infrastructure our econony will sink and we might as well tear up the interstates because we can not afford to take care of them have a good day!

Well, as most people think around here; TV 24 is okay in some spots, and poor in others. The upside is you have a great shopping show saving money (Southern Shopper), a good talk show (East Alabama Today), and news. The bad side is the other programming sucks. Old 50's shows are not hip anymore and many paid programming throughout the day is not either. Why do repeat the same newscast over and over again too?
So here are some changes to bring TV 24 up to par.
1. Put in better programming! How about shows like Sienfeld, Roseanne, C.S.I., or other shows in syndication that people love to watch. How about talk shows or court shows during the daytime like Judge Judy or Rachael Ray. How about better movies too! WVUA in Tuscaloosa does that and you should too!
2. More original programming! TV 24 used to do great orginals like extreme makeover east alabama, and other orignals that have been cancelled. I will comapre to TV 33 in Lagrange, GA. Tv 33 does an exercise show (exercise with emily), and a show highlighting things people do (camera 33). How about a exercise show, a cooking show, more orignals that would have people watching.
3. Better news! Do not repeat the same newscast over and over again. Instead have 5 and 6 live and 10 can be a repeat. How about a morning and midday newscast. You have got to this to attract viewers when you expand the market.
4. Your logo! Here are some things about the logo. (The logo shows 24 with clock on top) One, it stays on all the time blocking phone numbers and addresses for businesses and commericals. 2. It is taken off during the weekends but when you are getting ready monday morning you do not have a clock, people leave late, end of story. Look at my pictures below for sugesstions. (Either use a smaller logo or an transparent logo like on most networks.) (and maybe move the logo to another part of the screen.)

Here is how I would do a weekday schedule for Tv24. (Remember TV 24 will be in eastern and central time starting this fall.) times in central time.
5:00-7:00 TV 24 morning news
7:00-9:00 Dave Mack Show
9:00-9:30 East Alabama Today
9:30-10:00 Comedy show
10:00-11:00 Every Day
11:00-12:00 Your Health
12:00-12:30 TV 24 midday news
12:30-1:00 Syndacated show
1:00-3:00 Movie
3:00-4:00 Talk show
4:00-5:00 Orginal programming
5:00-5:30 Tv 24 local news
5:30-6:00 East Alabama Today
6:00-6:30 Tv 24 local news
6:30-7:00 Comedy Show
Themed nights 7:00-10:00
Monday: Shopper night
Tuesday: Crime Night
Wednesday: Comedy Night
Thursday: Sports Night
Friday: Anything goes
Saturday: Movie Night
Sunday: Church Night
10:00-10:30 Tv 24 local news
10:30-12:00 Various programming( comedy,talk,news)
12:00-5:00 Paid Programming
The Bottom line: Tv 24 has got to improve its programming or risk low viewership when it expands this fall! -Nathan Young
